Muggu is an artform , originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are reated on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flowers and rice powder. The purpose of muggu is to feel strength, generosity, and bring good luck.
We were Given the task of desigining an installation for the entrance space at Makerfair 2, Hyderabad. Taking cue from this everyday tradtion of muggu making, we chose to design an installation space for Makerfair 2, Hyderabad. it creates an onteractive space for people which could be a seating space or a play area for kids. The proposed installation is made up of a metal main frame. To this a dense sub framing of Natural cane is layered on top of which a wicker skin is handwoven.
